Evie McKendrick
RP, CPT
Eveliina (Evie) believes that every child has an innate capacity for healing and growth when given the right support and environment. Her mission is to help young people discover their strengths and develop the tools they need to thrive emotionally and socially.
As a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Certified Play Therapist through the Canadian Association for Play Therapy, Eveliina brings extensive training to her practice. She holds a Master's in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from Martin Luther University College, certifications in Expressive Arts Therapy, and an Honours BA in Clinical Psychology, Visual Arts, and Theatre. This diverse educational background allows her to offer a uniquely creative and client-centered approach to therapy.
Eveliina specializes in supporting children and youth ages 2–21, creating a safe, welcoming space where they can express themselves authentically and grow at their own pace. She works with young people facing challenges including anxiety, ADHD, ASD, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, behavioural concerns, and more.
Eveliina meets children and youth where they're at in their journey by using a variety of creative approaches. For younger children, this often means play therapy - helping them process emotions and experiences through their natural language of play. Eveliina also uses sandtray therapy (using miniature figures and sand to create scenes) which allows clients to externalize their inner world safely. Eveliina also incorporates drawing, movement, music, and drama based on her education in expressive arts therapy to help young people explore feelings they may not yet have words for.
For older children, teens, and young adults who are ready for more traditional approaches, Eveliina also provides talk therapy, creating a comfortable space for verbal processing and insight-building. She skillfully adapts her approach based on each client's age, developmental stage, and personal preferences.
Through these approaches, Eveliina helps children and teens build emotional resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, boost confidence, and strengthen relationships with family and friends. Her goal is to empower young people with tools they can use long after therapy ends.
With experience supporting adoptive families, new mothers, LGBTQ+ youth, and newcomers to Canada, Eveliina is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every client feels seen, valued, and understood. She recognizes that each family's journey is unique and tailors her approach to honor their individual needs and cultural backgrounds.
When she's not in session, you might find Eveliina creating art or exploring nature - passions that inspire fresh perspectives in her therapeutic work. Whether your child is navigating everyday stress, social skills challenges, big emotions, family transitions, or other life challenges, Eveliina is there to meet them exactly where they are and guide them toward positive, lasting change.
